What's the science say?

Semaglutide mimics the hormone GLP-1 produced in your gut and provides the following benefits:

  • Patients lose on average 16.9% of body weight in 68 weeks. [1].
  • Reduces risk of major cardiovascular events by 20% in patients with overweight or obesity [2].
  • GLP-1 agonists act on an area in the brain that regulates appetite. They make you feel full and satisfied, which reduces the amount you eat. [3]
  • Semaglutide helps regulate your blood sugar and increases insulin sensitivity, reducing your risk for Type 2 diabetes. Average Hemoglobin A1C reduction of 1.5% over 68 weeks with a dose of 1mg Semaglutide/wk [4].

Is Semaglutide FDA-Approved?

Semaglutide is FDA-approved under the brand names Wegovy® and Ozempic®.

Levers provides compounded Semaglutide from licensed USA pharmacies but is not associated with Wegovy® and Ozempic® nor their maker Novo Norodisk. Compounded Semaglutide contains the same molecule the name-brand drugs do.

Compounded medications are customized pharmaceutical products offered as an alternative to FDA approved medications and may contain FDA approved ingredients but are not themselves FDA approved. Our Semaglutide is compounded with Vitamin B6 to help reduce nausea and produce a better clinical outcome.

Levers works with with only the best regulated pharmacy partners that are 503A compliant to ensure purity and safety of compounded products, and our cash pay model allows us to offer the same active ingredient at a lower cost.

Do I have to be on this forever?

Many of our patients find they are able to maintain their weight after coming off of Semaglutide with the positive lifestyle changes they established while on Semaglutide. It can help create momentum, then be tapered off.

Semaglutide is FDA-approved for long-term use and most studies of Semaglutide last at least one year. More advanced and chronic obesity generally require longer treatment.

Your care team will work closely with you to find the correct dose and plan for your goals.

What type of Semaglutide do you provide?

Levers provides Semaglutide in base form ONLY, which is the only FDA-approved ingredient.

We never provide Semaglutide Sodium or Semaglutide Chloride.

Are there side effects?

The most common side effects of Semaglutide are gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea, constipation, diarrhea, or vomiting. These usually go down with time and are dose-dependent, which is why we start patients off at a lower dose. Here are their reported prevalence:

Nausea: 12%

Diarrhea: 12%

Indigestion: 8%

Constipation: 6%

Abdominal Pain: 6%

Vomiting: 5%

Please read detailed safety information on this card here.

Severe side effects are uncommon but are possible with any drug.

How long should I take it for?

The FDA has not issued restrictions on duration of Semaglutide treatment. Most studies of Semaglutide last at least one year.

With the positive lifestyle changes that accompany losing weight, such as increased energy, better mood and sleep, many patients find they are able to maintain the positive changes once coming off of Semaglutide.
